Double Sided Illuminated Gents of Leicester Clocks

£3,950.00

An incredible pair of large illuminated railway clocks made in England by Gents of Leicester. c.1930

Believed to have originally hung in Cardiff Central railway station. Double sided wall mounted drum clocks in fantastic original condition. Gents' iconic hands run on the original slave movement which now has benefit of a modern impulse driver retaining that synonymous mechanical 'clunk' every 30 seconds, with the internal illuminations independently controlled via a remote switch - allowing the clock to remain running, but the lights to be switched off. Price is per clock.

The dials could be rotated, allowing these clocks to be wall, ceiling or surface mounted depending on preference.

About the maker
Gents of Leicester was formed in 1872 by John Thomas Gent and later registered as Gent & Co. In 1903 they produced an electric clock system labelled as the 'Pul-syn-etic' - a master and slave series of clocks that would go on to revolutionise the workplace and public spaces alike. Gents' electric clocks can still be found in public buildings, railway stations and factories all over the world to this day - a testament to their superior design, build and quality. In the field of electric clocks, Gents products were routinely specified by architects for their simple style, quality, reliability and foolproof installation in any situation.
