Welcome to Antiques Workshop.

Founded in 2014 by cousins Thomas and Richard. Together, we specialise in finding and rescuing functional, decorative interior pieces from the 19th and 20th Century to make sure they can be re-used and enjoyed for many more years to come.

Our keen eye, experience and close attention to the finer and more subtle details allow us to hand select and curate a diverse range of stock that we carefully source from all over Europe and the UK. As a brand, Antiques Workshop has quickly become associated with providing an eclectic mix of unique interior statement pieces with a heavy focus on lighting, furniture and industrial clock systems often carrying some highly regarded brands such as Gents of Leicester, Howard & Sons, Dugdills, Holophane, Osler and Faraday & Son to name but a few.

We invite you to browse our current stock and follow us on Instagram to see the latest updates first as well as what goes on behind the scenes
in our workshop and studio. You can also sign up to our newsletter, at the bottom of the page, to get a first look at new stock when it is uploaded.

Mid-19th Century Howard & Sons Open Easy Armchair
£4,995.00

An incredible open Easy Armchair by renowned furniture makers Howard & Sons. c.1850

An early open‑arm Easy Chair with single turned front legs and a crescent‑buttoned back. Recently reupholstered to Howard’s original specification using their factory‑monogrammed ticking. During the strip‑down a fragment of the chair’s earlier cotton ticking was discovered; this pattern was faithfully replicated so the upholstery is historically accurate to how the chair would have left Howard’s workshop in the mid‑19th century.

The rear leg carries the earlier four‑digit Howard numerical stamp 3597 and the chair retains its original Howard‑stamped brass castors.

Full restoration and reupholstery were completed by Giles Bray of Middleton‑Bray Upholstery in March 2026.

Antique Orthodonist's 'Phantom' Dental Teaching Aid
£1,195.00

An exceptionally rare early 20th‑century phantom dental teaching aid, c.1920.

Engineered to a very high quality, designed for orthodontists to practice procedures with precision, it now possesses an undeniably macabre, almost sinister presence. The model is mounted on a period engineer’s scribe tool, allowing it to be positioned and displayed with the jaw either open or closed. A striking and unusual object with real visual impact, perfect for those drawn to the curious. A great conversation starter.

Early 20th Century Two-Branch Ceiling Gasolier Light
£1,150.00

An incredible early 20th‑century twin‑arm ceiling light. c.1900

Manufactured to a very high quality, originally gas‑fired and later sensitively converted for electricity. The cast‑brass frame carries a balanced pair of scrolling arms with leaf‑worked detailing, all retaining a warm, time‑earned patina to the original coppered finish.

Fitted with a matching pair of original Holophane ‘acorn’ shades - the classic prismatic form designed to throw a soft, even light while reducing glare. The proportions are typical of the gas‑to‑electric transition period: a central stem rising to a decorative ceiling rose, with the two drops sitting in symmetrical opposition. A practical, domestic scale makes it suitable for hallways, dining rooms or smaller commercial interiors.

Rewired to connect to mains.

Tom & Rich Antiques Workshop.JPG

The guys behind the graft.

Tom & Rich - cousins, neighbours and co-founders.

The idea behind recycling, restoring and re-purposing the items of our past is nothing new; people have been doing it for centuries, making good from the little they have or simply giving something a new lease of life.  The throw away era that we now all live in means cheap mass manufactured tat that doesn’t last longer than our phone batteries are high in abundance with tacky polymer products that aren’t designed for life now commonplace, adorning the shelves of our local high street retailers.

Simply put; we don’t make ‘em like we used to. Quality, well engineered everyday products that were so apparent in our past unfortunately haven’t joined us this century, and manufacturers that hold these design values in high regards have seemingly met their demise.

Driven and inspired by this observation – it has been both our passion and pleasure to rebirth these endearing and forgotten items of our past into modern life, ensuring that they continue to function as efficiently a century from now as they did a century ago. Our items are carefully sourced from throughout the United Kingdom and beyond and truly are a testament to Great British engineering.

All of our products are dissembled where applicable and thoroughly cleaned.  Wherever possible, some items will be preserved to show off their natural age, heritage and character.
