Large Ornate GEC Opaline Pendant Light
A very large and heavy duty opaline pendant light made in England by GEC - General Electric Company. c.1930
Shown in an original 1930's catalogue as the 'Glenarch', this large opaline comprises of very thick satin opal glass with ribbing to its perimeter and sunburst detail to the underside. Original copper gallery which is stamped on the inside GEC.
Rewired with 1m black twisted flex and length of original chain.

About the maker
In 1893 GEC decided to invest in lamp manufacture. The resulting company was to lead the way in lamp design and the burgeoning demand for electric lighting was to make GEC's fortune. GecoRay is a model of lighting intended for the mid-century shop display market designed by the General Electric Company (GEC).
