A run of heavy duty industrial lighting fixtures made in England by GEC – General Electric Company. c.1940
Utilised in an industrial environment where explosive gases could be present, these lamps have been stripped to expose a wonderful natural patina to the raw cast steel beneath. Two part housing showing the GEC makers mark and FLP ratings.
Rewired with 1m of black round flex. LED bulb also included.

About the maker
The General Electric Company, often shortened to GEC, was formed in 1886 in Britain and were a powerhouse in the development, design and manufacture of electrical components including defence electronics, communications, engineering and most notably lighting for various sectors. GEC produced street lighting, flameproof (FLP) rated factory lighting, airfield lighting and even shop window display lamps branded as GecoRay. They were transformed by the outbreak of WWI and went on to produce electrical equipment used right through the war.
