Stunning example of the iconic factory wall clock by Smiths English Clock Systems. c.1950

One of a pair, both clocks once hung in the Huntley & Palmer biscuit factory in Reading. This one was later used in a fishmongers, hence the ‘rusted’ patina. We have left this clock in totally original condition, retaining the traces of the black factory paint and iconic hands. Smith Sectric branding to face. Rewired and running on the original 240v motor.

Note: There is a small scratch to the glass near the number 10.

About the maker
Smiths English Clock Systems Ltd entered the domestic clock market in 1931 with the earliest known examples marked with Synchronous Electrics Clocks Ltd. In 1937, the trade name Sectric was adopted and appeared on many clocks from this point. They produced clocks for the commercial, domestic and automobile market where they appeared in many factories, railways and public spaces throughout the UK.
